Truman License Plates

Truman State University personalized plates are available for registered Missouri vehicles. You can have one to six characters or one to five characters plus a dash in the configuration that you select. To see if your configuration is available contact the Missouri Department of Revenue at (573) 751-4509 or e-mail them at mvbmail@dor.mo.gov. You can order Truman plates at anytime regardless of when your current plate expires.

The Missouri Department of Revenue has an online mock-up program where you can preview potential configurations for your personalized Truman license plate.  Go to http://www.dor.mo.gov/mvdl/motorv/plates/. At the bottom of the web site under "Select a Design Category or Organization" select Collegiate and then select Truman State University.

How to qualify for Truman personalized plates:
 

  • Step 1:
    To qualify for a Truman personalized license plate, you must make a tax-deductible gift of $25 or more to the Truman State University Foundation.  NOTE: A minimum contribution of $25 must be made each year to the Truman State University Foundation in order to retain your Truman license plate.

    BIENNIAL Vehicle Registration:
    If you register your vehicle on a biennial/two-year basis, you will need to make a double donation ($50 or more) to the Truman State University Foundation in order to cover both years of your vehicle registration.

  • Step 2:
    Request an "Emblem Use Authorization Statement" from Truman's Advancement Office by calling (800) 452-6678 or (660) 785-4133 or e-mail     alumni@truman.edu. Once your gift has been confirmed, the Office of Advancement will mail you the "Emblem Use Authorization Statement" that will be required when you submit your plate application at your local license bureau.

 

  • Step 3:
    When you renew your license plates at your local license bureau, you will need the following:
     

    1. "Emblem Use Authorization Statement" you received from Truman's Advancement Office.
     

    2. Your regular state license renewal application.

    3. The standard state renewal fee plus an additional annual fee of $15 for having your license plate personalized.

    Your personalized plates will be ordered by the Department of Revenue, and they will notify you when the plates are available for pick up at your local license bureau. All questions about processing should be directed to the Department of Revenue via your local license bureau.
     

    Renewing Your Personalized License Plates

    Reapplication for your personalized Missouri plates will require:
     

    ◦ A tax-deductible gift of $25 or more to the Truman State University Foundation for an annual license plate renewal or a gift of $50 or more for a biennial/two-year license plate renewal.
                Make a Gift to Truman

    ◦ A completed "Emblem Use Authorization Statement." Request this form from Truman's Advancement Office; (800) 452-6678 or (660) 785-4133; alumni@truman.edu. Once your gift to the Truman State University Foundation has been confirmed, the Advancement Office will mail you your "Emblem Use Authorization Statement."

    ◦ The state fee for personalized license plates.

    ◦ The standard license-plate renewal fee.

    NOTE: You must renew your personalized license plates within 60 days of expiration to ensure the personalized plates are held in your name.
