TruView Overview
(for Alumni Leaders)

What is TruView
TruView is a password-protected campus portal that allows members of designated groups, such as alumni chapter officers, alumni committees, and the Alumni Board of Directors, to securely communicate and to share files, photos and other materials.

Getting Started
Before you can access TruView, the University will need to register you as an authorized user and will provide you with your TruView
User Name & Truman E-mail Account:

The User Name you will use each time you log onto the TruView portal will be the first part of your assigned Truman e-mail that precedes the "@truman.edu".
For example:

If your Truman e-mail address is:
bld123@truman.edu

Your User Name will be:
bld123

èIf you are an official alumni volunteer, such as an alumni chapter officer or a member of the Alumni Board, and need to request your TruView User Name and Truman E-mail Address, e-mail your request to alumni@truman.edu.

How to Get to Your TruView Group Homepage
Go to the Truman Web site at http://www.truman.edu/. Locate the TruView portal login section located on the right-hand side of the web site. Enter your:

  • User Name: The part of Truman e-mail assigned to you by the University that precedes “@truman.edu”

  • Password: Selected by you (if you do not know your password, you can reset it online at https://secure.truman.edu/password/)

To get your TruView Group's page once you are in TruView, click on the GROUPS ICON located on the upper right-hand side of the TruView page, then click on the GROUP NAME.

Forgot Your Password or Need to Reset Password

The University's IT policy requires that TruView users change their password every 180 days for security purposes. A notification to update your TruView Password will be sent to your Truman e-mail address. (NOTE: If you wish to have the message sent to another e-mail account to make sure you receive them, you can set up Auto Forward option that is available in TruView. Go to "Using TruView E-mail.")

If you forget your password or receive a notice from the University that you need to change it, you can go to the Truman ITS Web Based Password Reset page to change your password online as long as you can provide your User Name (first part of your Truman e-mail address), your SS#, your Truman/Banner ID (available from the University, contact alumni@truman.edu), and Date of Birth.

TIPS for TruView Users

Keep a record of your:

  • User Name (assigned by the University)

  • Password (created by you)

  • Truman/Banner ID (assigned by the University)

TruView is a password-protected portal, so you will need your User Name and Password each time you log on. The User Name is assigned by the University and cannot be changed. If you wish to change your Password but do not remember your old Password, you can still create a new one online by going to the Truman ITS Web Based Password Reset page and selecting "I DO NOT know my current password and want to set it." You will be asked to provide the following information:

  • User Name (assigned by the University)

  • Social Security Number

  • Truman/Banner ID (assigned by the University)

  • Date of Birth

Disabled TruView Accounts

If a TruView account is not accessed at least once within a 180-day time period, the account is automatically disabled for security purposes. If you are an authorized user and receive a message that your account has been disabled when you try to log onto TruView, notify the IT Department Help Desk at Truman and request to have your TruView account re-enabled, (660) 785-4544.
