Make
plans now to meet up with your friends on campus for
Homecoming Oct. 26-28, 2007. This year’s theme is “Reality
Bytes...the Truman Show,” and a host of events have been
planned for alumni, friends, and families...some highlights
include the Annual 5k Run, Golf Tournament, Kids Corner
Games, Tailgate Picnic, and the Iron Chef Chili Cook-off.
The Multicultural Affairs Center is hosting their
traditional Jazz Brunch, and Sunday's events include the
Unique Ensemble Gospel Concert and a Percussion/Contemporary
Music Masterclass and performance by Talujon, the NYC-based
percussion quartet which will be in residency at Truman.
Music Festival Concerts
During Homecoming, you are
invited to the 9th Annual New Music
Festival Concerts in the Ophelia Parrish Performance Hall on
Oct. 26 (7:30 p.m.) and Oct. 26 (1:30 p.m.) featuring chamber and solo works with a
world premiere musical selection by composer
Dr. Matthew
Tommasini, winner of the
international 2007 Truman State-MACRO Composition
Competition.
Tommasini’s new composition, And the Tree Grows Again,
will be premiered by Dr. Julianna Moore (flute), Dr. Michael
Bump (percussion) and members of the Truman State Wind
Symphony under the direction of Mr. Dan Peterson. In
addition to the premiere, a variety of new instrumental and

Watch
the Parade from Franklin Street, from the SUB or
from Your Own Computer
This
year, you have a couple of options for watching the
Homecoming parade, including one that allows you to watch
the parade from your very own computer. Traditional parade
watchers can pick out a spot on Franklin
Street to watch as Grand Marshals Dean (’41) and Amy (Ayres)
(’43) Rosebery lead the parade Saturday morning, Oct. 27
at 9 a.m., or you are invited
to watch a live video of the parade from the comfort of the
Student Union Building. The live video broadcast will also
be available on the Truman's Alumni Web site at
http://alumni.truman.edu/parade so
that anyone can watch the parade from their computer. A
recorded version of the parade will be posted on the Alumni
Web site at
http://alumni.truman. edu
so that you
can watch it at your leisure.
