A
ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Oct. 27 at 10:30 a.m.
during Homecoming at the west entrance of Missouri Hall to
celebrate the reopening of the newly remodeled residence
hall. After opening West Campus Suites, the University’s new
residence hall, in August 2006, the University spent the
past year overhauling Missouri Hall which reopened in time
for the fall 2007 semester.
Missouri Hall has some new
features that range from air-conditioning to a new
multipurpose room to a new private dining room located just
off the main cafeteria. Each floor has a kitchen, laundry
room, study rooms, and computer stations.
"The
residents are really enjoying the building," said
Zachary Burden (’03), Missouri Hall director.
"I think they really like
the expanded community and study spaces in the
building." Burden also noted that through the
renovations, they were able to expand the size of the
house lounges and provide dedicated study locations.
"And of course, what could be better in August and September
than an air-conditioned room," said Burden. “I’m
happy to see that Missouri Hall is so wonderful after
the renovation yet still holds on to the core
characteristic of community that always made it such an
amazing place to live.”
For the next phase of the
University’s campus-wide housing improvement project,
construction crews have begun work on Blanton-Nason-Brewer.
